Hi all. I am having a problem while writing a paper in apa format. my problem is. I am referring to different sections of an organization's web site. I know how to write individual references, on the reference page. but in the text of the paper, I am not sure how to denote "I used this section of the site in this paragraph". I am not sure how to cite which section of the site I am using in each paragraph. any help would be appreciated.

There is little standardisation of citation principles for electronic sources, and sources themselves change so quickly that this is likely to remain so
for some time. The principles of access, economy, consistency and transparency still apply. The system worked on by Walker and Taylor (1998) gives the
same sort of information which your normal citation would require, and then adds the protocol and address and the date accessed. They give the following
examples (1998: 30)
For citation that follows the MLA style:
Cressia, Lori : “Copyright and Fair Use.” 1997.
http://www.cas.usf.edu/englis/walker/courses/fall97/cressiatoc.
Html (27 Dec 1997).
For citation that follows the Scientific Style (APA):
Cressia, L.L. (1997) Copyright and fair use.
http://www.cas.usf.edu/englis/walker/courses/fall97/cressiatoc.
Html (27 Dec 1997).
An article in the online version of The New Grove would appear as:
Covell, Roger. “Australia. Western art music.:
www.grovemusic.com
(11 September 2001)
I know how to write references on the reference page. but when I am writing each paragraph of the actual paper, I am not sure how to denote in parenthesis what section of the site I am using. I am considering putting the organization, title of the section and then page number. but I am not sure if that is correct.

Q: How do I cite an entire Web site (but not a specific document on that site)?
A: When citing an entire Web site, it is sufficient to give the address of the site in just the text. For example, Kidspsych is a wonderful interactive
web site for children (http://www.kidspsych.org).
Check out http://www.apastyle.org/faqs.html Hope that helps. Sam
If there is a known author or authors of the website use the authors last name(s), if it is the website of an organization use that by using on the first quotation the full name example: (United Nations [UN], 2005) then just (UN, 2005) from the second quotation on. If the website has pages then use these page numbers in your quotation, if it doesn't then you don't have to quote a page number. You only need a page number if you are doing a word for word quotation if you are just using your own words but based what you say on information from that source you don't need to quote page numbers just the source. I hope this helps. Star
